WHERE I'VE BEEN | WEEKS 1, 2 & 3 OF UNI
I'm finally back and ready to start blogging about all things fashion. I have so much planned for the next three years and I can't wait to get started and share it all with you!
What have I been up to?...
Since my last post, I've been up to quite a lot! I've moved into uni, started my course, got to know everyone and have got through the first three weeks and began my first two projects. It's been a little hectic, to say the least... But now, everyone is settled and in a routine, I've got myself a job and I think I'm on the right track.
What's next?
For the next year, I am planning on documenting everything that happens during my BA Hons Fashion course and the things that come with it. In addition to this, I will be posting about things that have interested me during the month, for example, a designer or artist that I have come across, or maybe even what I think of that month's issue of Vogue. So if you're thinking about starting the same course as me, it will give you more of an insight into what happens at my University, along with the things happening in the fashion world at the time and the things going through my head as the year goes by as a first-year fashion student.
Week 1, 2 & 3
So weeks one and two were not exactly the more riveting of my life, however, it was a time to get to know the people in the flat, the course leaders and a time to kind of ease yourself into the course. Being someone coming from only doing A Level Textiles Product Design, I found this time really helpful as it not only gave me a chance to experience the new environment of Uni, but also to find out where I was lacking in terms of knowledge from not doing a foundation degree.
I found that so many people were at so many different levels and that really settled my nerves as I quickly realised that a lot of people had the exact same worries and concerns as I did.
There were a lot of 'Hopes and Fears' talks and taster lessons, so it was easy to get used to.
Then came the lectures and full lessons!
We had more of a Taster Lesson in Visual Communication which I LOVED! The only thing that was daunting about it was the fact that it was three hours long, little did I know, this was only the beginning. We learnt about the basics of figure drawing and how to draw the human form, things I had previously done in life drawing classes, so this was, again, a nerve-settling thing.
On Tuesday, however, we had our first six-hour day, around three hours of Fashion Theory and History and then a briefing on Visual Communication... so basically a whole day in the lecture theatre... not fun.
From then on we were introduced to other people from different courses, people from final year and shown a whole variety of different things that we would be doing over the course of the next year... there's a lot to look forward to!
