Getting Back Into the School Routine...

So, the school year has started once again, another year of school and some people may be excited but I know that most of you are either anxious, bored (already) or just wanting to be 18 and out of school...
School is a good thing and not a lot of people think that, but its true...
This is my simple steps to getting the most out of school and having a great year (inspired by Emma Blackery)

ROUTINE

Bedtimes...
Bedtime? Who wants a bedtime? No one! But, who needs a bedtime? Everyone!
Bedtimes, although restrictive and annoying, are very important things all through your life, bus especially during your school years.
Ive always been told to be in bed, homework done, before 10 and asleep by 11. Until I got to year 9, this was enforced. When I finally wasn't forced to do this, I thought I'd be big and clever and stay up until 3 in the morning on Facebook and messing about in my room watching movies and videos... This had to be one of the WORST decisions ever.
My grades suffered, I got moody, I fell behind with homework... It was not good and within just a few months I went back to my old routine.
So trust me, setting a bedtime is such an important thing to do

Schedules...
Set a schedule... set an hour aside every night for homework, pack your bag the night before, get into a routine in the morning.
Doing this will make sure you forget nothing (unless you're really bad like me) and it will make your life so much easier.
Brushing your teeth morning and night is something you do automatically right?
Things like doing homework for an hour a day at a certain time and packing your bag should become just as much of an automatic thing and before long, getting up early and getting to school with everything and on time will be so much easier, you won't believe.

ORGANISATION

Planners...
At the start of the school year, everyone receives a school planner and although these are good for using in school, you will start to hate these purely because of what they're about.
Buying your own planner of diary is such a good way to go as you can do things your own way.
Personally, I have my school planner and a diary. When I get back from school, I write in the important messaged and things to remember from that day into my normal diary in one colour and homework in another and then I have things like birthdays in another...
This makes my life so much easier, as everything is in one place and so organised and it makes it so much less of a hassle to get things done.

Forward planning...
Going back to schedules slightly...
Forward planning, if you have the capability to do it, is one of the most important things you can do in school and in work.
Things like doing your homework at least two days before its due, if not the night you got it, is an amazing thing to do because you then have the chance to complete it to its best and ask for help from friends, family and most importantly... teachers!

BE GRATEFUL

Don't waste this opportunity...
A lot of people waste the opportunity of school by getting too wrapped up in friends and who's got the latest what.
School time is for working; break time, lunch time, after school and weekends are for gossiping and chatting and doing things with your friends.
Theres no point going to school if you're going to do things like that because you're stopping yourself and others from learning...
Friends can be there after school so don't even use the excuse "Ive got to see my friends at lunch" when you need extra help...
Grasp this opportunity and be grateful for it because a lot of kids would give anything for it...

Teachers...
Teachers were in the exact same position as you... They hated homework, they hated their teachers and they hated going to school in general.
So don't you think that the fact they're setting homework and working in a school shows how grateful they are now for going to school and how much things like homework helped them?
Teachers are very stressed as they get a lot of grief and work from school, more than you do, by far.
So don't give them something to shout about, you want to be friends with your teachers, otherwise, if you start to fall behind, who's going to be there to go back and help you get back to it again?

This kind of sounds like a bit of a rant but I'm sure some of you saw sense in it...
I hope you take this on board and enjoy the rest of your year,
